Round log has the look people picture when they think of a cabin: a thick, turned log wall that is the finished surface inside and out. Small and welcoming log cabins (under 50 m²)
You don’t need a lot of floor area when the space is planned intelligently. A small round log cabin is not only a cost-effective and ecological choice, but also incredibly welcoming. In a compact cabin, everything is close by, heating costs remain low and there is more time for what is important: being outside. Many of our small cabins include a loft, which adds plenty of additional sleeping space to an efficient floor plan.

When you need more space in your cabin for living and socialising, the 70–100 square metre size range offers the perfect solution. These round log cabins are like second homes, easily accommodating multiple bedrooms, a modern kitchen and a spacious floor area where the whole family and friends can spend time comfortably. This is the size to choose if you want the character of a log cabin and the comforts of a modern house, without giving up either. They are also excellent for year-round use.

Delivery package: do you want just the frame, a weathertight shell, or a wider package that also includes interior materials? The wider the package, the less you source locally; the frame alone is the most affordable.

The first and most important decision is how much you are going to use it.
- A holiday cabin is a perfect choice when use is mainly concentrated in the summer and on weekends. In this case, the log thickness can be thinner, making it a cost-effective solution. The design emphasises bright living areas, a large terrace and being close to nature.
- A cabin intended for year-round use requires stronger log strength and modern insulation to be warm and energy-efficient even in the coldest winter months. It functions like a second home, and its design allows for all comforts, from a utility room to proper bedrooms.
Log thickness: How to choose the right log?
The thickness of the log directly affects the warmth, energy efficiency and appearance of the cabin.
- Thinner logs (e.g. up to 180 mm) are ideal for saunas, barns and traditional summer cabins that are not used during the coldest season. They are a more affordable option that still offers the feel of a real log.
- For year-round living we recommend 230 mm or thicker. For a UK site the required build-up depends on Approved Document L – tell us the location and we will confirm it. Thick logs are excellent thermal insulators, keeping heating costs down in winter and interiors pleasantly cool in summer. They also give the building a solid and valuable look.
Size and functionality: Sauna cabin or spacious family holiday home?
The size and layout of the cabin dictate how it serves you in everyday life and at parties.
- A small sauna cabin or guest house is the perfect solution to complement a plot or as a small hideaway. Its design emphasises efficient use of floor area and atmosphere.
- A traditional family cabin (50–80 m²) is the most popular size. It offers enough space for a family, usually including a couple of bedrooms, a living room, kitchen and laundry facilities – everything you need for a successful cabin holiday.
- A large log cabin (over 80 m²) is your choice when you want everything from your cabin – space for a larger family, modern amenities and somewhere to entertain. In this case, you can plan spacious living areas and even a separate wing for guests.
Price and budgeting: What factors affect the price of a cabin?
- The final price of a cabin is influenced by several factors. When planning your budget, it is a good idea to consider:
- Size and model: Surface area is naturally the single biggest factor affecting price.
- Log thickness: A thicker log costs more, but pays for itself in heating costs with year-round use.
- Delivery package: do you want just the frame, a weathertight shell, or a wider package that also includes interior materials?

How long is the delivery time for a round log cabin?
Delivery time varies depending on the order volume and season, but it is typically around 3–5 months from the date of signing the contract. You will always receive a more detailed schedule with your quote. We strive to keep our most popular cabin models in production at all times, which can speed up the process.

Do I need planning permission for a cabin?
Usually, yes. Some small outbuildings fall under permitted development rights, but a habitable cabin normally needs planning permission from your local planning authority, and Building Regulations approval applies separately. In England a householder application is normally determined in about eight weeks; Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland run their own systems. You apply for permission yourself, or through your own architect or planning agent, but we will assist in the process by providing all necessary planning drawings (floor plans, elevations and sections), to accompany your application.

Can the layout of ready-made models be changed?
Yes, absolutely! Each of our ready-made models is more of a starting point and a source of inspiration. Our own designers will modify the floor plan, window positions and room layout according to your specification without any additional costs. We want you to have exactly the kind of cabin you have always wanted.

What does the delivery package practically include?
This is an important question. We generally offer three different delivery packages:
Frame delivery: Includes only numbered log parts.
Weathertight shell: a larger package that adds weatherproofing materials and fitted windows to the frame.
Full package delivery: the widest package, adding interior materials and fittings to the weathertight shell. Groundwork, foundations and erection on site are carried out by a contractor you appoint; foundations are never part of the delivery.

Is a round log cabin warm enough for year-round use?
Yes, it is. With the right log thickness (e.g. 230 mm or more), modern insulation and high-quality windows, a round log cabin is very energy efficient and warm even in the coldest weather. All of our cabins, designed for year-round use, meet Finland’s strict energy regulations.

What do I need to do before the cabin package arrives at the property?
Before delivery, the foundations must be in place, built by a competent contractor and signed off by your building control body. It is also important to ensure that the access road can carry an articulated lorry and a crane lorry safely. We will provide accurate foundation measurements well in advance of delivery.
